The restaurant brand is set for a major relaunch after being rescued from administration last year
TGI Fridays has launched its first ever breakfast menu as the restaurant brand prepares for a major relaunch on 4 July.
The ‘Rise and Dine’ menu is now available at 22 UK restaurants, which will open their doors to customers earlier in the morning.
Dishes include a £5 bacon ciabatta and a £10.95 the All-American Slam, featuring pork sausages, crispy bacon, fried eggs, baked beans, sautéed mushrooms, grilled tomato, hash brown bites and toasted ciabatta.
The menu also includes a stack of pancakes topped with Oreo crumble and vanilla ice cream (£8), as well as an 8oz steak with mushrooms, grilled tomato, hash brown bites and a fried egg (£14.95).
The launch comes amid a period of change at TGI Fridays, which saw 51 of its 87 restaurants bought out of administration by Breal Capital and Calveton, the investors behind Evolv Collection, last year.
The buyers paid the equivalent of around £187,000 for each of the chain’s 51 restaurants, securing over 2,000 jobs.
However, just over 1,000 jobs were lost when the remaining 36 TGI Fridays restaurants closed.
The brand’s flagship Leicester Square restaurant, which opened in 2015 following a multimillion-pound investment, closed in January.
In a LinkedIn post earlier this month, Simon Wilkinson, board director and operating partner at Evolv and TGI Fridays, said the American diner had had a “tough time” over the last few years and needed a refresh.
He said the brand would have “the comeback of all comebacks” on 4 July.
The TGI Fridays brand was founded in New York in 1965 and launched in the UK in Birmingham in 1986.
