The Chancery Rosewood hotel confirms opening date

The Chancery Rosewood hotel is set to finally open its doors on 1 September in London’s Mayfair.

According to its website, room rates for a Mayfair King junior suite start from £1,170, while Chancery House, which offers residence-style accommodation with floor-to-ceiling windows and views of Grosvenor Square, is priced at over £20,000 a night.

It marks the Hong Kong-based hospitality group’s sixth European property and second opening in London, following that of the Rosewood London in Holborn in 2013.

Plans for the Chancery Rosewood were first announced in 2021 with an initial opening date set for 2024.

The hotel occupies a Grade II-listed building designed by Finnish architect Eero Saarinen. It opened in 1960 housing the first purpose-built chancery in London and was home to the US Embassy until 2017.

The property is now owned by real estate developer Qatari Diar Europe and was restored by British architect Sir David Chipperfield to offer 144 suites and houses designed by Joseph Dirand.

Once open, the hotel will welcome eight restaurants and bars under the leadership of food and beverage director Chad Clark. The line-up includes Richard Caring’s Le Caprice as well as New York’s Carbone.

The Chancery Rosewood will also feature an Asaya wellness facility, retail outlets and 10 meeting and events spaces, including a 709 sq m grand ballroom.
