Matthew Hurry leads hotel F&B while Stefano Tortelli takes over as head chef of Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen from Kyle Lewis
The Cumberland hotel in London’s Marble Arch has made two head chef appointments.
Stefano Tortelli has been appointed head chef of Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen, which made its UK debut in April.
Tortelli was most recently brand executive head chef for Bulldozer Group, overseeing the launches of Alba in London’s Knightsbridge and La Baia in Paris. He brings experience from Margot, Enoteca Turi, Bocconcino and Gordon Ramsay Restaurants.
The Caterer can confirm that Tortelli has replaced Kyle Lewis, who joined Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen at the Cumberland hotel as head chef in April, having served as head chef of the Savoy in London.
Meanwhile, Matthew Hurry has been named head chef of the Cumberland, joining from two-AA-rosette restaurant with rooms the Angel Inn in North Yorkshire, where he was head chef.
Hurry brings more than 15 years’ experience to the role, having previously led the kitchen at the Stables at the Grove Hotel & Spa in Hertfordshire and held senior roles across Hotel Café Royal, Sea Containers London, Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square and the InterContinental London Park Lane.
As head chef at the Cumberland, Hurry will manage the hotel’s food and beverage offering across Lírica, the hotel’s destination Spanish tapas restaurant, and its 17 meeting and event spaces, including Arena, which accommodates up to 400 guests.
Pedro Da Silva, general manager at the Cumberland, said: "We are delighted to welcome Matthew and Stefano to the Cumberland at such an exciting time for the hotel. Both bring exceptional talent and creativity, with a wealth of experience across some of the industry’s most respected hotels and restaurants. Their appointments reflect our continued investment in delivering outstanding dining experiences, and we’re excited to see them shape the future of dining at the Cumberland.”
