The River Cafe opens first site in 37 years

The River Cafe is set to launch the River Cafe Cafe later this week, which will mark its first opening in 37 years.

The River Cafe Cafe, located just steps away from the original restaurant in London’s Hammersmith, will serve an Italian menu.

It will serve an Italian breakfast with River Cafe brioche, cake, melon and peaches, and then plates of prosciutto, mozzarella and seasonal vegetables as the day progresses.

In the evenings, guests will be able to try various aperitivos, non-alcoholic cocktails and wines by the glass paired to homemade crisps and Italian olives.

During the summer months, the Cafe will serve zucchini and grilled peppers, and in the winter, there will be roasted pumpkin, squash and borlotti beans.

Ice-cream coupe specials, River Cafe desserts, pastries and Italian hot beverages will also be available to take away.  

The River Cafe Cafe opens on 13 June.

The River Cafe was founded by chefs Ruth Rogers and Rose Gray in 1987 and became a culinary institution that paved the way for Jamie Oliver, April Bloomfield, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall and Sam and Sam Clarke.
