The group is aiming to become the UK’s top healthy eating brand
Salad bar chain Tossed has signed its first franchise partner with plans to open 50 new sites over the next four years.
The group, which has 13 London restaurants, said it is aiming to become the UK’s leading healthy eating brand.
Tossed has signed a franchise partnership with Goldbean Limited, which will open the first franchise store in central Nottingham this summer.
Goldbean is led by Badar Zaman, who has 20 years multi-site franchise experience with Costa Coffee.
Neil Sebba, managing director of Tossed, said: “We are delighted to sign Badar as our first franchisee; we feel he is the perfect fit for us: his regional knowledge, experience and enthusiasm will be invaluable to ensuring its success as a platform for his further expansion.
“We received extremely positive local feedback from the public in Nottingham, and we’re excited to be opening our first store there. This promises to be the first of many; we are targeting 50 franchise stores to be opened over the next four years, and Badar is an ideal partner with a great first location.”
Tossed was bought out of administration by Sebba and Angelina Harrisson after it was forced to close all its sites during the coronavirus pandemic.
However, the business has found success with its customisable salads, wraps and power bowls and continued to grow, with a site having opened in Chiswick last year.
It is one of a number of salad-focused brands currently expanding in London, with Atis launching its 11th site in Mayfair in May, while the Salad Project is planning to reach 20 sites by 2027.
Zaman, who currently trades 10 Costa Coffee stores, said: “My family and I are seeking to build something together here that we can be proud of and Tossed is exactly that. We believe it has huge potential for growth. We’re excited to open our first store and have plans for several more.”
