Vietnamese restaurant 'completely ruined' by fire launches GoFundMe page

Staff at a London Vietnamese restaurant which was "completely ruined" by a fire have launched a GoFundMe page to help the business get back up and running.

Ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters were called to BúnBúnBún on Kingsland Road in Hackney in the early hours of Monday morning.

No one was hurt in the blaze, but the fire damaged the basement, first floor and second floor of the building.

The restaurant team said the damage meant there was "no way" it could reopen again soon.

They have launched a GoFundMe page to try and raise £50,000 to set up in the site next door to serve food in the interim.

The team wrote: "Our kitchen caught fire last night while a member of our staff was preparing for the following day. Very fortunate nobody was hurt, however our kitchen is completely burnt and our shop floor is completely ruined.

"We have been open as a restaurant here for more than eight years now and everyone at BBB are all devastated with what has happened. We are all in shock and disbelief - no words can describe the extent of our sadness right now.

"If you are able to support us in any way you can we would appreciate that very much."

BúnBúnBún's sister restaurant in Dalston continues to trade as normal.
