Wingstop opens first Sheffield site

Wingstop UK has opened its first site in Sheffield.

Located in the Oasis Dining Quarter at the Meadowhall shopping centre, the new site hosts 114 covers.

The fried chicken QSR brand, whose UK-arm was acquired by US private equity firm Sixth Street in a £400m buy-out last year, will serve diners its traditional offering of wings, tenders and burgers, and a churros selection for dessert.

Wingstop made its UK debut in London in 2018 and now currently operates 77 sites across the UK and employs more than 3,000 people, with plans to grow to as many as 200 sites within the next five years.

Chris Sherriff, chief executive at Wingstop UK & Ireland, said: “We’re thrilled to finally open our first Wingstop in Sheffield at Meadowhall. It’s such a great location that brings together shopping, entertainment and great food – the perfect place for us to join the city.”

Wingstop UK’s latest opening comes after it revealed last month record growth following the nine-figure buy-out. It posted revenue of £125m in the nine months to 29 December 2024.

Wingstop was founded in Dallas, Texas, in 1994 and operates and franchises more than 1,500 locations worldwide.
