Holroyd Howe International is the private schools catering brand at Westbury Street Holdings (WSH), the UK’s fifth largest contract caterer and its largest independent player. Sister brands include BaxterStorey, Cater Link, Benugo, Searcys and Portico.

It was originally founded in September 1997 by Nick Howe and Rick Holroyd, who previously worked at contract caterers Baxter & Platts and Nelson Hind respectively. The two had first met at Sutcliffe Catering in 1986 when they were in their twenties.

Holroyd Howe targeted the B&I and education markets, initially in London and the south east of England, and expanded through organic growth rather than acquisition.

When it was snapped by WSH in December 2007, Holroyd Howe brought to the table around 132 contracts, more than 1,100 staff and annual turnover of £45m.

Although it was largely absorbed into WSH’s BaxterStorey brand, the name was retained to target private schools catering, leaving the group’s Cater Link division to focus on the state school sector.
