Hurstwood Farm's cold-pressed 100% Kentish cobnut oil has been named Supreme Champion at the Great Taste Awards 2010, organised by the Guild of Fine Food.
The Supreme Award judging panel of chefs and food critics, including Sat Bains, Bruno Loubet and Charles Campion, chose the winner from a shortlist of 12 products that emerged as regional winners from three months of judging this year's 6027 entries.
The panel said the cobnut oil was "excellent, magnificent and has a very clean length… simply a beautiful artisan product and a truly British product".
Hurstwood Farm is the only commercial producer of cobnut oil in the UK and each nut is hand picked before going through the process of drying, shelling and then pressing. It takes over a kilo of picked nuts to produce each 250ml bottle of oil.
