Major tech figure is remembered for having transformed hospitality revenue management software
Marco Benvenuti, the founder of hospitality revenue management software firm Duetto, has died at the age of 50 following a three-year battle with cancer.
Benvenuti founded Duetto in 2010 alongside Patrick Bosworth, starting as a two-person consulting operation before Craig Weissman joined soon after. Together, they built Duetto into a platform serving more than 1,000 hotels and casinos worldwide.
Within a few years, the company grew to more than 100 employees, and the product suite expanded to include ScoreBoard and BlockBuster alongside the GameChanger revenue management system.
Under Benvenuti’s leadership, Duetto’s Open Pricing platform (within GameChanger) helped redefine how the hospitality industry approaches revenue management — replacing rigid, outdated pricing models with a more innovative way of reading demand.
Benvenuti stepped back from day-to-day operations at Duetto in 2018, but remained closely involved afterwards, serving on Duetto’s board and as an advisor through its acquisition in 2024 by GrowthCurve Capital.
Colleagues remember him as “a one-of-a-kind innovator” – disruptive, restless with new ideas, and insistent that every voice in the room mattered, regardless of title. He also introduced the playful unicorn symbol for Duetto’s brand.
“What Marco built here was never just a business,” said Olly Lynch, Duetto’s chief marketing officer. “It’s a way of working, and a way of treating each other that’s deeply embedded into Duetto’s DNA. So many of our people count those years as the best of their careers, and we intend to keep building on what he started.”
Benvenuti built Duetto to be distinctive from day one, and Duetto continues to push the hospitality industry forward as it builds a new category, the revenue and profit operating system. It has grown from that early team of 100 to currently more than 350 employees, with a product suite now including Advance, GameTime and HotStats, following the hotel market analysis firm’s acquisition last year.
