Rosé from Princess Diana’s niece, port over ice and artisan Greek wine: The best new summer wines

With summer upon us, hospitality operators will be looking to refresh their wine lists to incorporate lighter, more seasonal options.

Rosé with a royal connection

 

Lady Eliza Spencer, niece of the late Princess Diana, has unveiled a rosé called Lala V. The wine, made in collaboration with modern Côtes de Provence winemaker Domaine Tropez, is created from Saint-Tropez vineyard grapes, picked at night from hillside plots. The wine has notes of citrus and peach, a smooth, balanced palate and a signature pale pink Provençal hue.

New debut for ancient wine

 

Hallgarten & Novum Wines has welcomed Zwartwater to its South African portfolio, a new project from winemaker Stefan Johannes. The debut 2024 vintage includes a white and a red blend from vines on the Lammershoek vineyard in Swartland that date back to 1966.

Port over ice

Kopke has launched Kopke On Ice, a light and fresh white port developed to be served over ice. Kopke recommends pouring 60ml port over three ice cubes in a wine glass, finished with a twist of orange peel.

The Uncommon’s first bottled wines

 

Canned wine maker the Uncommon is releasing two new still wines in a bottle for the first time through Enotria. The range comprises Tempting Fete, a dry, pale English rosé made from Pinot Noir, and High Tease, a crisp, aromatic English white made from Bacchus and Chardonnay. The grapes used in the two 11% abv 2025 wines are grown on the North Kent Downs.

Tuscan classic and modern

 

Fells has welcomed premium Italian wine brand Innesto to its line-up, starting with two Tuscan varieties. From the Ricasoli family’s winery, the oldest in Italy, is a 2021 Chianti Classico Riserva, while a multi-vintage Toscana IGT highlights a more modern, innovative approach.

Aged English sparkling wine

 

Squerryes is to launch Patience 2014, an aged English sparkling wine developed over more than a decade. The wine is named after Patience Warde, a 17th-century merchant and lord mayor of London. The inaugural release is drawn from the 2014 vintage and has undergone more than 10 years on lees. Only wines that develop to the required standard are considered for Patience, and so production is limited and future releases expected only occasionally.

Artisan Greek wines

 

Little Owl is a new range of Greek wines created by the London-based Artisan Group of Brands. Little Owl will launch with two classic Greek varietals: Assyrtiko white wine (PGI Central Greece), which is light on the palate, gently floral and with a clean finish, and Agiorgitiko red wine (PGI Peloponnese), with notes of bright cherry fruit and a savoury finish.

English wine trio

 

Lyme Bay Winery has released its 2025 wine collection. The Sauvignon Blanc 2025 is crisp and vibrant, with flavours of white currant and gooseberry; Bacchus Block is produced from grapes hand-picked from Martin’s Lane vineyard in Essex and has notes of gooseberry, pineapple and fresh lime; and Shoreline Rosé is made from Pinot Noir and Bacchus from Sandhurst Vineyard in Kent and has aromas of red berries and white flowers.
