37 meals for primaries from Apetito

No fewer than 37 frozen meals aimed at primary schools have joined the line-up from Apetito.

They have been developed for use as part of a balanced school lunch menu in accordance with the guidelines of the School Food Trust, and are designed to support the Government's nutrient-based standards for school lunches, to be introduced in primary schools by September 2008.

They are thus free of hydrogenated vegetable oil, artificial colours and flavours and MSG, and are supplied in easy-to-use 12-portion trays (except for the 10 vegetarian options that come in three-portion trays).

The line-up includes Chicken Korma, Tikka Masala or Sweet and Sour; Sliced Turkey in Gravy; Sausage, Beef or Lamb Casserole; Meatballs in Tomato Sauce; Cottage Pie; Lancashire Hot Pot; and Kedgeree.

For non-meat eaters, there are Sausages in Gravy; Vegetable and Bean Casserole; Lasagne; Chilli; Pasta Provencale; and a Cheese, Leek and Potato Bake.
