Apetito's plated meal solution for hospitals shortlisted for innovation award

Apetito's ](http://www.apetito.co.uk)ground-breaking CarteChoix plated meals solution for hospitals has been shortlisted for the Orange Innovation Award at this year's National Business Awards.

CarteChoix was launched this January to help hospitals reduce costs and food wastage while providing quality, flexibility and choice in their catering. The meals take no more than seven minutes to cook, allowing patients to enjoy a nutritious, balanced meal served on warm china plates on demand and out of normal eating hours.

It has proved especially valuable in fast-turnover wards such as maternity and admissions, and has boosted sales at Apetito while achieving cost savings and efficiencies for the hospitals.

"Apetito's innovative plated meal system clearly meets the needs of the healthcare professional and the end customer, as well as delivering strong business benefits," commented shortlisting judge Gideon Hyde, founder and director of Market Gravity.

"CarteChoix is the result of our efforts to direct resources, time and hard work into driving new developments in food manufacturing," said Ian Stone, sales, marketing and development director at Apetito.

"It is our aim to create products which provide nutritious, safe and appetising food, on time, to the elderly and infirm and it is a great honour to be recognised by a prestigious award for our achievements."

CarteChoix offers more than more than 21 main meals, plus hot desserts, ranging from traditional favourites such as Beef & Yorkshire Pudding and Shepherds Pie to more global choices such as Spicy Bean Casserole and Sweet & Sour Chicken. It can also cater for special diets such as diabetic, vegetarian, energy-dense, gluten-free, and reduced fat or salt.

The winners will be revealed at the National Business Awards gala dinner at the Grosvenor House hotel in London on 13 November.
