"Back in the 1980s, the Surrey-based Loseley Brand was synonymous with quality and built a phenomenal reputation as the cream of British ice-cream. Our aim is to re-establish this once great national mark and show that we can compete with the best," said Beechdean co-founder Andrew Howard. "It would be great to see a super-premium British ice cream compete in the retail market with the likes of Ben & Jerry's and Haagan Daz"
He added that the Loseley offer would be based around the traditional British flavours of Luscious Lemon, Truly Toffee and Strawberries & Cream.
The Loseley purchase also included the Granelli and Yorkshire Dales brands.
Beechdean was established in 1989 by Andrew and Susie Howard on a 600-acre family dairy farm in the Chiltern Hills and has expanded to a state-of-the-art new factory on a dairy farm in Cheshire. The group also supplies sorbets, low-fat ice-creams, frozen yogurts and frozen custard and distributes a range of Belgian waffles.
