Bernard Matthews buys Lincs Turkeys

Bernard Matthews has acquired Lincs Turkeys, an established turkey farmer based in rural Lincolnshire.

Lincs Turkeys produces one million turkeys a year, of which about 350,000 are free-range. It sells whole turkeys and primary cuts of meat and rears a variety of species, including Bronze turkeys and speciality breeds.

Jeff Halliwell, UK managing director of Bernard Matthews, said: "It will allow us to expand our offering in the fresh and free-range turkey markets, areas of particular importance to Bernard Matthews, as we continue to promote the health benefits of turkey. Lincs Turkeys will continue to be run as a stand-alone business within Bernard Matthews Holdings, retaining its own corporate identity and name."
