Brakes Professional Food Market Croydon to close

Grocery and food supplier company, Brakes has issued a statement that confirms the Brakes Professional Food Market store in Croydon, South London is to close.

In a statement from Brakes dated the 28 January, the company have confirmed that a consultation process has begun with store staff.

The statement explained that the decision has been made in the light of a strong performance in its core Brakes business, since opening the Croydon store in March 2014.

This growth includes many initiatives such as; the roll-out of e-commerce service to independent customers, the launch of a multi-temperature service and a joint venture with Fresh Direct to accelerate sales growth in the fresh category - the fastest growing part of the foodservice market.

As a result of this growth Brakes has decided to close the store to focus on those areas, and will not open any further Brakes Professional Food Market stores.
