Wholewheat pasta and a reformulated tomato sauce are now used to make Chef's Smart Choice spaghetti rings, meeting 3663's Positive Steps campaign criteria.
The campaign is an ongoing initiative to encourage healthy eating and the move to wholewheat increases the fibre content of the product, while the reformulated tomato sauce contains just 0.3g of salt and 4.2g of sugar.
The canned spaghetti is sold in 2.6kg units with six to a pack.
3663 is also replacing syrup with juice in the Chef's Smart Choice range of canned fruit in order to meet the government's recommended five-a-day target.
As a result, the fruit cocktail comes in grape juice (6 x 2.6kg), peach slices come in pear juice (6 x 2.6kg), pear halves come in grape juice (6 x 2.6kg), pineapple slices are stored in pineapple juice (6 x 820g) and prunes are supplied in prune juice (6 x 2.7kg or 6 x 850g).
Brine has also been replaced with water, where possible, for the Chef's Smart Choice canned vegetables.
