Carry tray and recycled PET disposables from Huhtamaki

The BioWare range of eco-friendly disposables from Huhtamaki has been joined by the Strongholder carry tray, which allows up to four hot or cold drinks to be transported safely without spills.

The BioWare range is certified to the EN13432 European standard for compostability and will compost within 60 days. It includes bio-coated hot and cold cups, tumblers, hinged containers, plates, bowls and cutlery.

The company has also started using food-grade recycled RPET in place of virgin APET. The new RPET lines - which includes Polarity tumblers and lids - contain 40% recycled PET from post-consumer waste.

Research last year by the Waste and Resource Action Programme found 86% of respondents favoured the use of recycled plastic in packaging and 78% said they would feel more positive towards suppliers that used it.
