Chilean Vertice wine from PLB

Vertice 2005 (14.5% abv) is a new wine from Chilean producer Viňa Ventisquero. The Carménère and Syrah blend is the result of a joint collaboration between Ventisquero's Felipe Tosso and Australian winemaker John Duvalthis and is positioned just beneath the flagship Pangea.

The grapes are hand-harvested from Ventisquero's vineyards on the upper slopes of Colchagua's Apalta vine-growing area. Soils here are suited to these grape varieties and both winemakers believe the terrain helps to produce aromatic wines with great complexity, structure and elegance.

After blending, the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels and then undergoes a further nine months' ageing in bottle before release.

Ventisquero is the first winery in Chile to offset the carbon dioxide emissions of its wine transportation.
