Coup de pates launch Chefs at Play competition for a trip to Paris

Foodservice supplier Coup de pates has launched a nationwide competition offering young chefs the chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to its exclusive Paris development kitchens and the chance to create a new product for the UK foodservice market.

Chefs at Play will see the champion jetting off to Paris accompanied by Coup de pates Chef Ambassador, James Tanner and Young Chef Ambassador, Thomas Leatherbarrow.

Chefs can enter via www.chefsatplay.co.uk by the 16 November, selecting one of eight Coup de pates frozen semi-prepared products as a base, before adding their own twist and choice of ingredients to create a new sweet/savoury canape or reception product.

Shortlisted individuals will be asked to make their creation (with the semi-prepared product provided) and photograph the dish, proving they have the presentation skills as well as the talent to innovate.

Five finalists will then be chosen, with their dishes being recreated and judged by a panel of experts including Tanner and Leatherbarrow. Then just one young chef will get to accompany the pair to Paris for the development session of a lifetime.

Mariam French, head of marketing and product development for Coup de pates, said: "We're all about seeing young talent given the opportunity to flourish, which is why we're so excited to launch Chefs at Play.

Young chef ambassador for the brand, Thomas Leatherbarrow, himself an award-winning young pastry chef, features in the Chefs at Play launch video, and added: "I'm delighted to be a part of this competition which will help inspire young chefs to get their thinking caps on, do something a bit different and show us just how creative they can be. From my own perspective, I look forward to seeing, tasting and judging the creations."
