Dawn Foods to buy Unifine ingredients business

US-based global bakery and ingredients supplier Dawn Foods is to buy the http://www.dawnfoods.com" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer">Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients](http://www.unifine.com) business.

Unifine is a leading European supplier of value-added pastry ingredients to artisan bakers and industrial customers. Its parent group [Royal Cosun](http://www.cosun.com)

The acquisition will cover all seven Unifine manufacturing sites, ten sales offices in Europe, and its Sucrea, Fruibel, Caullet and Dethmers brands.

[Dawn Foods, a family-owned international supplier, described Unifine as a "highly complementary" fit to its existing business of supplying mixes, bases, icings, glazes, fillings, frozen dough, par-baked and fully-baked products.

Simon Solway, managing director of Unifine Food & Bake Ingredients UK, said the acquisition would provide Unifine with 'a greater presence in the European market place'.

The sale, which is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities, is expected to conclude in the second quarter of 2011.
