Diageo joins Business in Sport and Leisure body
Drinks giant Diageo ](http://www.diageo.com)has joined the [Business in Sport and Leisure ](http://www.bisl.org/)(BISL) body, where it will sit on the Liquor Licensing Group and participate in the Visitor Economy Group.
"Our involvement further demonstrates our continued support for the on-trade and licensed sectors," commented Mark Baird, head of industry affairs and alcohol policy at Diageo GB, whose leading brands include Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Smirnoff, J&B, Baileys, Cuervo, Tanqueray, Captain Morgan, Crown Royal, Beaulieu Vineyard and Stirling Vineyards.
"We will benefit immensely from their expertise and input and look forward to Diageo Great Britain being a cornerstone of our aim to demonstrate to government that the leisure industry is a significant sector of the economy," said BISL chief executive Simon Johnson. "
"As a result, the licensing, fiscal, planning and regulatory environment for the on-trade can be eased to allow the market to grow."
BISL members include pub groups, nightclub and bar operators, snooker and darts clubs, bingo and casino operators, health and fitness operators, and private sector operators of public authority leisure centres.
