Dudson sees solid first quarter trading

Stoke-on-Trent ceramics and tableware manufacturer Dudson has reported a successful first quarter trading results with sales growth of 5% and operating profit up by £650,000 compared with the same quarter last year.

Both sales and profit are ahead of the group's budget for the first quarter and the company is sitting on a solid order book going into the third quarter.

Sales are reported to have been especially strong in the US, Canada and Australia, which have seen combined growth of 14% compared with the same quarter last year, while the launch last year of the company's ‘Harvest' range has driven significant sales growth across the group.

Following the divestment of its French manufacturing operation, the company has a £500,000 investment focused on increasing capacity and improving factory efficiency and currently recruiting over 30 new factory personnel to allow an additional manufacturing shift to run on another part of their range ‘Evolution'.

Katie Dudson has moved into a new role within the company's supply chain team and new roles have been created in the sales teams in Australia, US and the UK with a new group marketing manager, Alison Ratcliffe who joins the company on the 22 August with a focus on brand development and digital marketing.
