Eblex and BPEX improve meat purchasing guide app

An updated Meat Purchasing Guide app from Eblex is now available to download including a range a new features.

As well as being able to view and order any of the 450 beef, veal, lamb and mutton cuts featured in Eblex's Meat Purchasing Guide, caterers can now also order 96 pork cuts developed by BPEX and over 100 animal by-products covering beef, lamb and pork, which opens up the app to the export market.

Eblex and BPEX have worked closely together over the past six months on the development of the app upgrade and to identify a range of traditional and innovative pork products. The addition of pork cuts makes the app even more useful to chefs when purchasing their red meat and planning their menus.

Dick van Leeuwen, business development manager for Eblex, said: "Our aim in developing the enhanced Meat Purchasing Guide app is to make it an essential tool for everyone in the industry. We have collaborated closely with BPEX to include a wide range of pork products and this will undoubtedly benefit meat buyers.

"The app is useful for the supply sector too as it is flexible enough to be integrated into catering butchers' ordering systems. Some of the country's leading catering butchers are already encouraging their customers to use the app.

"We think chefs will find it hugely useful when it comes to innovation and menu development too. Foodservice leads the way when it comes to food trends and the app is a great tool for chefs to use to find new product ideas.

The new app includes a variety of useful resources such as links to all of Eblex's Quality Standard Mark (QSM) recipe books and videos featuring Michelin-starred chef Nigel Haworth.
