The London Tea Company has developed a gourmet range of organic Fairtrade and tisane speciality teas specifically for the food service sector. It says its top three blends - White Tea, Elderflower & Apricot; Peppermint, Spearmint & Strawberry; and Green Tea, Mango & Ginger -now outsell staple varieties such as Earl Grey.
Other classic brews given a modern twist with unusual ingredients include: Lemongrass, Ginger & Citrus Fruits; Lavender Chamomile; Red Berries; Blackcurrant, Raspberry & Cinnamon; and Vanilla Chai, a mix of black tea, cinnamon, peppermint, ginger, cardamom, cloves and vanilla.
The teas are sold in a variety of formats, including string and tag bags, envelopes, loose-leaf teas and top-of-the range, biodegradable pyramid bags. The premium-quality teas are sold at mid-price points and can be displayed in leather or wooden presentation boxes.
