Great Taste 2013 awards open for entries

Three new Golden Fork trophies have been added to Great Taste for 2013, the blind-tasted food and drink awards for speciality food and drink producers.

Launched this month, with early-bird entry and discounts being encouraged before the 1 March, the awards engage a panel of more than 350 judges, helping businesses to improve and refine their food products with unbiased product evaluation and feedback given on all products judged.

Chefs working in delis and farm shops are being encouraged to enter their favourite signature dish; producers making artisan foods using heritage breeds or varieties will be presented with a special Nigel Barden Award, and one emerging new artisan business will receive valuable mentoring as part of its prize.

Since 1994, the awards organised by The Guild of Fine Food has seen more than 70,000 products blind tasted by judges including top restaurateurs, chefs, food critics, fine food retailers, buyers and cookery writers.

The final deadline for entries is 22 March and more information, categories and online entry details can be found at www.greattasteawards.co.uk
