GS1UK and Brandbank pre-empt imminent food labelling regulations

Pre-empting these changes, GS1 UK and Brandbank have joined together to develop a suite of solutions that will facilitate the creation and distribution of high-quality product data, rich content and images for operators and their customers.

The aim is to provide greater consistency between products on the shelf and online, supported by a process for managing product information between trading partners and end-users via a range of digital channels. GS1 UK and Brandbank will work together to provide awareness campaigns, education, consulting and compliance services.

The goal is 100% compliance within the EU regulation, and particularly across GS1 UK's 8,000-plus members. Commenting on the partnership, Gary Lynch, CEO of GS1 UK, said: "With the rapid growth of online trading, correctly identifying products and accurately providing all the relevant information across the web in a consistent manner is vitally important for consumer confidence and brand reputation.

"The partnership with Brandbank will provide our members with additional value and support in their trading relationships, as well as enabling them to prepare for the significant changes that the new legislation will require."

Rob Tarrant, CEO of Brandbank, added: "The partnership with GS1 UK allows us to offer our proven expertise to their membership, while simultaneously ensuring we work within the global GS1 framework where appropriate."
