Half of UK hotels ‘missing out on food and drink profits'

Some 50% of UK hotels think they are missing out on opportunities to profit from food and drink, according to a report from Nestlé Professional.

Findings from its Make Their Stay report show that although 93% of hotels consider good food and drink provision to be important to business, only half feel they are taking advantage of every food and drink profit opportunity.

For 32% of guests, having good coffee in the room is an important factor in making their stay great and 72% are more likely to leave a positive review if the hotel gives them freebies such as welcome drinks and after dinner mints.

Sara Haggerty, hotels channel lead at Nestlé Professional, said: "From check-in to check-out, there are many moments when hoteliers can make the most of the food and drink profit opportunity. However, as our research shows, not all hotels are maximising these.
