Hull producers form Local Food Network
As the credit crunch modifies consumer enthusiasm for organic food into support for locally-sourced, fresh seasonal produce, rural campaigners in Hull have launched an organisation that aims to build up a relationship between local restaurants and food suppliers.
The East Riding Local Food Network was launched at the Ferguson Fawsitt Arms near Beverley to promote quality British produce grown in the area to local food retailers and caterers.
One supporter is David Nowell, chef at Tickton Grange, who has devised a menu in which all the key ingredients are locally sourced from 20 to 30 suppliers, most located within a 15-mile radius of the restaurant.
