James Knight of Mayfair and Aberdeen Sea Products merge

James Knight of Mayfair has announced that it has merged with Aberdeen Sea Products, a specialist sashimi wholesaler.

The deal is intended to reinforce James Knight of Mayfair's strategy to invest in specialist, high-growth sectors within the seafood industry. The London Japanese market is highly fragmented, with more than 450 restaurants spread across the capital.

Paschal Tiernan, managing director of James Knight of Mayfair, said: "We are delighted to have finalised this merger. It underlines our commitment to providing the best-quality, freshest fish in London and will help us meet the growing demand for healthy, authentic sushi and sashimi."

Matthew Anglin, managing director of Aberdeen Sea Products, added: "The team at Aberdeen Sea Products are delighted to be working with James Knight of Mayfair. They share our ethos for independence, quality and ‘family style' customer service. Japanese cuisine is particularly difficult to address from a sustainability point of view. For this reason, we are very pleased to be working with the leaders in sustainability."
