Jasmined pearls from Teapigs

Jasmine pearl green tea is the latest salvo from the tea evangelists at Teapigs, in Ealing, west London, in their crusade against "painfully predictable flavour combos".

The whole leaf tea from China's Fujian province is hand-rolled into small balls (the pearls) that are left to rest on a bed of jasmine flowers, where they soak up the floral aroma.

The pearls are then packed into disposable silky bags with plenty of room to infuse. The jasmine pearl green tea, which is packed in cases of 6 x 15 teabags, is part of a range of flavours that include chilli, popcorn, chocolate flake and rooibos crème caramel.
