JJ Food Service expands fresh fruit and veg range as demand rises

Food and drink wholesaler JJ Food Service has expanded its fresh fruit and vegetable range, with a view to offering restaurants, hotels, pubs, schools and other caterers a wider choice.

The company previously sourced fresh products through a third party supplier but now deals with 16 growers directly, including British suppliers, thanks to increased demand. Its new products include avocados, mangoes, melons, pineapples, chestnut mushrooms, ginger, spinach, rocket leaves, coriander and a range of tomato varieties.

Chief products officer Ali Guvemli commented: "Our fresh fruit and vegetable volume sales have almost doubled over the past twelve months and we have responded by removing the middle man and doubling our range. This has enabled us to procure more carefully and improve availability."

Family-owned company JJ Food Service delivers to a range of caterers, restaurants and hotels, plus schools and cafes. It offers online ordering and next-day delivery for orders up until 9pm, and recently announced smaller meat packs for smaller caterers, and launched a new smart ordering app for tablets and smartphones.
