Jus-Rol serves up inspiration for National Vegetarian Week

"We are now in an era when the vegetarian consumer is having an increasing impact on the catering business," said Jus-Rol foodservice sales manager John McKears.

The Vegetarian Society](https://www.vegsoc.org/) estimates there are now between three million and four million vegetarians in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /?>

UK, alongside a growing number of "meat-avoiders" or "meat-reducers". As [National Vegetarian Week](http://www.nationalvegetarianweek.org/) (23-29 May) approaches, Jus-Rol has been working closely with its Pastry Perfect Panel of chefs to demonstrate the versatility of pastry as an alternative to other carbohydrate-based dishes. - These vegetarian recipes can be downloaded from [www.justrolprofessional.co.uk, where free Pastry Perfect Panel recipe cards can also be requested. Examples include the Garlic Portobello Mushroom and MascarponeTart and the Spinach, Feta and Pine Nut Pie with a Piquant Red Pepper Sauce created by Carol Haime, head chef and owner of the Sandrock in Farnham, Surrey. Her recipes use Jus-Rol's Twisted Corner Basket (a pre-cut and scored puff pastry sheet that transforms into a diamond-shaped case with two simple folds) and its Shortcrust Oval as a pie base and lid. > Â
