Mövenpick Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year competition open for entries

The Mövenpick Gourmet Dessert Chef of the Year competition 2013 is now open for entries.

Launched in partnership with the Craft Guild of Chefs, the competition challenges professional chefs to create a unique dessert using Mövenpick's gourmet flavours.

Successful finalists will demonstrate their skills in a live cook-off in a bid to win a luxury weekend for two to the home of Mövenpick Ice Cream in Switzerland, with two runners-up receiving £200 vouchers for a restaurant of their choice.

Pastry chef Sarah Frankland, winner of the inaugural competition, said: "I'm excited to be joining the judging panel for this year's competition and doing my bit to help improve awareness of the opportunity that desserts give to chefs to unleash their creativity and inventiveness."

Julia Jones, head of customer marketing at Mövenpick, added "Last year's competition was an excellent showcase for the talent our hospitality industry has to offer and each of our finalists really pushed the boundaries of creativity."

Contestants will be judged on factors including innovative use of ingredients, flavour combination and contemporary presentation.

To enter, visit www.moevenpick-icecreamcompetition.co.uk from 11 March 2013.
