New blast chiller freezers from Precision

The new line of British-built blast chiller freezers from Precision are said to be easier to use than their predecessors and packed with features not previously available on similarly priced models.

The simple digital control panel requires no staff training - just two button presses are needed to choose a 90-minute soft chill or hard chill cycle or a 240-minute blast-freeze cycle, with the machines switching automatically to standard chiller/freezer storage at the end of the cycle.

The compact, low-energy machines run off 13amp rather than 16amp sockets, accept standard 1/1 GN pans, and are HACCP-compatible, with the food probe controlling the cycle by time or food temperature. The refrigeration system (easily serviced from the front) is mounted in the bottom, where the kitchen's ambient temperature is lowest, so the appliances work efficiently in environments up to 43e_SDgrC.

Two of the initial three models are compact machines with a storage capacity of 10kg - an under-counter blast chiller freezer and a countertop unit with an integral worktop and top-mounted control panel at the back.

The third launch model is a conventional upright cabinet that can hold 35kg of food. All have automatic defrost and a vaporiser design that eliminates the need for a defrost drain.
