New natural sweetener from Sweet Freedom

Sweet Freedom is a new alternative to sugar, artificial sweeteners, syrups (golden, maple, agave, rice and high-fructose corn), and honey. The syrup is made purely from fruits from which the water has been extracted and is a mix of vegan-friendly apples, grapes and carob that have not been subjected to any chemicals, enzymes or bleaching.

It contains 25% fewer calories than sugar, and can be used in quantities up to 50% less, gram for gram. There are two versions, which both won Gold stars in the Great Taste Awards 2009 - the Sweetener, which has a neutral, sugar-like taste, and the darker, richer Syrup, which tastes like maple syrup.

Sweet Freedom is already being used by top chefs such as Raymond Blanc, by mixologists as a substitute for glucose/gomme syrups, and by food producers in drinks, muffins and ice-creams. Launched in 300ml top-down squeezy bottles for retail, it is also available to the trade in 5-litre pourable polybottles or 20-litre tubs.
