Pelican Buying Company acquires Prestige Purchasing's consortium business
Pelican Buying Company](http://www.pelicanbuying.co.uk/) has acquired Prestige Purchasing's Consortium business, a deal that will provide Pelican with continued business growth in the hotel sector.
Established for 22 years, Pelican Buying Company manages the purchasing requirements of its customers, with a strong focus on delivering greater productivity, better efficiency and increased profitability across a number of purchasing categories.
Prestige Purchasing, founded in the 1970s as the consortium service within Prestige Hotels, grew organically, staying focused on the hotel sector and the individual hoteliers that are its customers.
Shabaz Mohammed, managing director of Pelican Buying Company, said: "We are delighted to have acquired such a long-established, successful and highly respected business, and are especially pleased to welcome those employees who have transferred to the Pelican team.
"The acquisition of the Consortium business from Prestige Purchasing will enable us to bring these values and our expertise to current customers of the Prestige Purchasing Consortium and the wider hotel sector."
David Read, chief executive of Prestige Purchasing, added: "There are many natural synergies between our two businesses and I am confident that Pelican will provide an excellent service for our customers. The business has a well-documented history of achieving results for its customers, while being a company you can trust."
