Premier Foods Culinary Academy for Schools
The Premier Culinary Academy for Schools travelled to five catering colleges over the past month to provide practical guidance and training for 80 secondary school unit managers.
During the one-day free-of-charge sessions at schools in Glasgow, Skipton, Bristol, London and Stratford-upon-Avon, home economists demonstrated a host of dishes from snacks and main meals to desserts.
Following the demonstrations, the delegates recreated the recipes or created their own variations using a wide selection of alternative ingredients on offer to them.
Premier's communications and marketing manager, Laura Tufnell-Barrett commented: "This is the first time Premier Foods has offered a training course for school cooks. The sessions were relaxed and informal but jam packed with useful information and examples of simple recipes that make a desirable offering for the students while keeping within the School Food Guidelines.
"I am very pleased with the feedback from those who attended the Academy, and hope to continue the good work."
Delegates left the day armed with goody bags containing 19 recipes and details about Premier Foods' product portfolio plus the key nutritional information for each recipe.
