Q Grader number three for Lincoln & York

Private label coffee Roaster Lincoln & York has announced that longstanding member of staff Tom Altoft (pictured) has become its third qualified Q Grader.

Having passed the six-day examination process awarded by the Coffee Quality Institute, held by only 42 people in the UK, Altoft joins Lincoln & York's managing director James Sweeting and coffee taster and buyer Rebekah Kettrick as the company's third Q Grader.

Altoft joined the company in 2000 at the age of 17 and has worked his way up from the packing line, to co-ordination of coffee stocks and roasting coffee to his current position for over a decade.

"From the young man who came to us straight out of school in 2000, Tom has grown hugely in skills and confidence and is a great asset to the team and very deserving of this qualification. Please join us in wishing him huge congratulations."
