Riedel glass masterclasses

Riedel glass masterclasses

Glassware manufacturer Riedel will conduct one-to-one ‘glass masterclasses' with visitors to 2009 London International Wine Fair, which takes place at ExCel, London on 12-14 May.

The sessions are designed to demonstrate the difference the shape of a glass makes to a customer's perception of wines and spirits and will feature several popular wine styles. There will also be a special feature on whisky and cognac.

The idea that the bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wines are affected by the shape of the glass from which they are drunk was recognised by Professor Claus J Riedel more than 50 years ago and he began creating stemware that would complement different wines and spirits.

Additionally, Riedel will run an interactive decanter demonstration to launch some new shapes and to help operators get the best out of a decanter.

Riedel is exhibiting on stand S10 and visitors will have the opportunity to participate in a free prize draw to win £1000 of Riedel glassware.
