A new line of hot or cold fillings from Delice de France has been designed to cash in on the double-digit growth that has seen the take-away sandwich market grow to £4.5b since 2000.
The fillings - which can be used with any part- or fully-baked sandwich breads or with baked potatoes - are all based on a richly flavoured but low-fat mayonnaise.
They include Chicken with Smoked Bacon or Sweetcorn; Prawn, Double Cheese and Spring Onion (combining Cheddar and Red Leicester); Coronation Chicken; and Chicken Tikka.
The mayonnaise-based fillings have a two-day chilled shelf life and are sold in packs of 4 x 500g.
Also available in 1kg packs are two grated-cheese varieties with no mayonnaise - Mozzarella, and a Four-Cheese Mix of Cheddar, Edam, Red Leicester and Parmesan.
