Self-service ordering from Self-Service Kiosks

A hospitality ordering and payment system that allows customers to order their food from picture menus on touch-screen kiosks and then pay using cash or cards has been extended from quick-service restaurants to pubs by Self-Service Kiosks, part of the Herbert Group.

The system - which communicates customers' choices immediately to the kitchen or preparation area - frees up staff to focus on preparing and serving food and can increase sales, especially on promotional items such as healthy options, which have soared by 190% in some establishments.

The kiosks, which can be stand-alone or integrated with existing systems, use customisable software that can handle multiple menus and brands, including drinks, side dishes and desserts, and there are plans to include more features to attract younger users in family pubs.

The kiosks will dispense change and include stereo audio and multilingual features. The system costs about £100 a week to lease, including full support.
