Shetland Food Festival

French chef Jean-Christophe Novelli is to headline the first Shetland Food Festival, which takes place on 3-12 October.

Novelli and George McIvor, chairman of the Masterchefs of Great Britain, will each conduct live cookery demonstrations using local produce from the Shetlands.

The 10-day event will profile the produce offered by the Shetland Islands, which blend Nordic and Scottish culture and enjoy 24 hours of sunlight during the summer months.

"Shetland is well known for producing exceptional lamb, beef, fish and shellfish, and I'm really looking forward to sampling it all," said Novelli. "I always use produce that's seasonal and local, so the timing of the festival provides the best opportunity for me to cook with the best of what's available."
