Skrei cod from the Norwegian Seafood Council

Product Skrei

USP Skrei is a special type of seasonal Norwegian cod and only the very best of this migrating cod will meet the strict criteria to become quality graded Skrei.

Source Every year between January and April - the coldest, darkest months of the Norwegian winter, when the seas are ferocious and temperatures freezing - the Norwegian coastline comes alive for the much- anticipated Skrei season. For Norway's fishermen and fish-lovers alike, it's the most exciting time of the year.

Unique qualities A premium-quality fish that is sustainably managed and MSC-certified. To be classified as Skrei, the fish needs to be caught fully grown - as a large, mature cod. It can be landed during the winter season only, and from the traditional spawning grounds along the northern Norwegian coastline. The meaty flesh is bright white, lean, flaky and tender, making it very easy to prepare.
