South West Independent Coffee Guide launched

High-profile businesses in the South West coffee scene have come together to showcase the speciality ‘coffee revolution' taking place in their region.

The UK's top Barista, Maxwell Colonna-Dashwood of Colonna and Small's in Bath is joined on the South West Independent Coffee Guide's editorial committee by Andy Tucker head of coffee at Clifton Coffee Roasters, Nick Cooper of South West publishing company Salt Media and Ed Gooding of Bunn Equipment.

The guide includes write ups and colour photographs of the 50 top coffee shops in the South West, plus 22 ‘More Good Cups' listings, which have been invited into the guide based on quality of coffee served, expertise, and the use of the highest quality South West roasted beans.

The coffee shop reviews include information on different brew types, beans, grinders and equipment and details 16 local artisan roasters and features on the art of the barista to help coffee enthusiasts get the most out of the experience.

"Putting this together has involved a lot of planning and thought, but one thing that became apparent in our many coffee conversations was that there's been a paradigm shift in the way we view and interact with coffee," said Colonna-Dashwood.

"The South West has quietly become a nuanced and exciting coffee landscape, driven by the development of a cohesive speciality coffee market, which at its heart is like the world of wine in that it focuses on provenance and character.
