Tableware manufacturer Steelite International has acquired British brand Royal Crown Derby to further extend its fine dining range and build on its commitment to high quality UK manufacturing.

Steelite International's first acquisition, will allow the launch of ‘Royal Crown Derby Entertains', a fine bone china range for hotels, restaurants and hospitality venues which will be sold worldwide.

Kevin Oakes, chief executive of Steelite International said: "We have researched the international hospitality market very carefully over the past year and know that there is a market for fine bone china which boasts that genuine made in England pedigree.

Hugh Gibson, chief executive of Royal Crown Derby, said: "It has been a privilege to be the custodian of Royal Crown Derby for so many years and I am certain it will thrive under Steelite International's stewardship."

Royal Crown Derby is known for its fine bone china and giftware, which dates back to 1750 and will retain its branding and 200-strong workforce based in Derby.
