Scooping the win for Nestlé®'s outstanding work on the development of "the Cocoa Plan" (www.thecocoaplan.com), which is an integral part of its ‘Creating Shared Value' strategy, Neil Stephens, Managing Director of Nestlé Professional® said, "With a £65 million investment over ten years, the aim is to use Nestlé®'s agricultural and scientific know-how to improve the quality and yield of cocoa plants, offering farmer training and education, and improving the social conditions for farmers and their communities. As part of the Cocoa Plan, Nestlé® will provide 12 million stronger and more productive cocoa plantlets to cocoa farming communities worldwide.
"Sustainability and CSR is a journey and we are all still learning. The Foodservice Footprint and the Footprint Awards are a fundamental way for the whole industry to help share best practice. It is for this reason that we are delighted to have our own work and commitment recognised by this award win."
Nick Fenwicke-Clennell, CEO of Footprint Media Group, said: "The overwhelming support and commitment for the Awards has been tremendous. Nestlé Professional® is the vanguard of CSR, leading the way in this important area of development. It is a pleasure to work with a likeminded organisation and I am delighted to congratulate them on their very well deserved award win. It was an extraordinarily competitive category. In fact the overall quality and volume of entries has been impressive.
"We very much hope the awards have helped to raise CSR up the agenda and to showcase the hard work and achievements of the industry."
