Supplier press release: WMF launches ‘Active Milk' enabling hot and cold drinks from the same coffee machine!
WMF is set to launch its highly innovative ‘Active Milk' system that will not only deliver a more consistent foamy milk, but also a wider assortment of milk based drinks, enabling the operator to produce both hot and cold drinks from the same bean to cup machine!
As many foodservice operators continue to focus on improving and expanding their coffee offer it becomes more and more important to establish a USP and target the consumer with better quality and a wider variety of coffee based drinks.
57% of UK consumers use a coffee shop on a regular basis and with sales up 10% YOY in 2011 to £2.1bn* there is an opportunity for anyone serving coffee to increase their share by promoting something a little different to the competition and offering the consumer something they cannot easily make themselves at home.
A standard WMF fully automatic bean to cup coffee machine relies on steam pressure and uses the "Venturi effect" to draw milk through the system as steam is injected into the head. WMF's new ‘Active Milk' system utilises a milk pump that is located inside the machine to send the milk through the milk line where steam is then injected to heat the milk to the required temperature. The pump speed can also be varied to alter the milk temperature hitting the cup for different drinks.
No longer having to depend on a steady steam pressure, especially during busy periods, brings many benefits; a consistent milk fill in larger drinks, a constant milk temperature maintained throughout service and a more stable milk foam quality is produced, but the most ingenious advantage of all is that with ‘Active Milk', and the onset of summer, customers can now be tempted with iced coffee drinks such as Latte and even milk shakes (with the manual addition of ice and a flavoured syrup once the frothed milk has been dispensed from the machine).
In addition, a simple, fully automatic cleaning system ensures that the operator spends a minimum amount of time cleaning.
Active Milk will be launched in time for summer at the end of May 2012 and will be available in WMF's 2000s and Bistro! machines, in both single and 3-phase versions.
