Tilda throw support behind Zest Quest Asia competition
The hunt for the next Zest Quest Asia winner is on - and participants are being encouraged to take part by Tilda Foodservice.
The student competition is designed to encourage those learning the culinary arts to develop their talents in Asian cuisine. The star prize is a trip to an Asian capital - previous winners headed to locations including Tokyo, Mumbai and Bangkok.
Previous winners include University of Westminster, Farnborough College, Milton Keynes College, University College Birmingham, and current champions University of West London.
Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala founded Zest Quest Asia to help promote Asian cookery among students, and stem the skills shortage threatening the £4b industry.
Cyrus Todiwala said: "Students who become adept at Asian cuisine in Britain are the pioneers and ‘disruptors', choosing something outside the normal comfort zone of classical Western cookery.
"In addition, they are helping their careers too, because more than ever palates are yearning for Asian flavours.
"I strongly urge colleges, big and small, to enter Zest Quest Asia. On top of everything, you will be making a big difference to the student experience."
Annette Coggins from Tilda UK added: "Knowledge of Asian cookery can offer many benefits and it is important that our next generation of chefs understand this. It is an exciting and vibrant cuisine to cook, and reflects many of the major food trends our student chefs will be confronted by when they leave college.
The entrance deadline is 26 October 2018.
