Travel food capsules from Quodpod

Quodpod - winner of the new Inspirations category in last year's ITCA Mercury Awards - is an innovative new concept that aims to improve the quality, look and efficiency of travel meals while massively reducing the amount of waste usually associated with food on the go.

It is aimed at airline and train caterers as well large-scale caterers at sporting events or festivals.

The tiffin-style tiered pods, which are one-fifth the size of regular hot meal trays, comprise an upper tray for two twinned hot dishes under the lid and a dual-hinged lower tray in the base that rotates in two directions to reveal two chilled dishes.

The hot dishes are designed to be rapidly steam-heated in induction ovens minutes before serving, when they are dropped into the Quodpod's upper tray, but they can also be heated up in microwave or convection ovens.

After use, the Quodpod is dismantled into its five constituent parts for washing ready for reuse. Made from durable polycarbonate, Quodpods can be branded.
